Spend to save money

kitty coin bank

This morning, I went to the DHL office, WWW Express,to ship my brother’s documents to Kuwait.  When I entered their office along Lacson St., a female staff was still assisting a customer.  The seats were empty and there were no other persons next in line but me.

That would be good.  It means it will be quick to finish my transaction.

My wrist watch

DSC08889

July 11, 2011.  Starbucks, Cubao QC.  My wrist watch said 11 o’clock.

I was hanging out with my girl friends Aubrey, Lyn and Darlene because it was Aubrey’s birthday.  It has been years since the last time we spent time with Au.  Not long after we drained our glasses, we called it a night and let Au take a taxi cab first before we headed home.

Discovering Jean’s Pinoy roots

IMG_5137

“Jean’s coming here for May Joy’s wedding.  Then, where should we take him for vacation?”

Everybody racked their brains for the places to visit and the things to do while Jean’s in the Philippines.  It’s Jean’s very first visit of his mom’s hometown and we all wanted it to be memorable for him.

Yummy Hotflops

Yamyam first saw it in Hong Kong.  It is a slipper adorned with fruit-like design and Swarovski accent.  When we were in Cebu for her medical exam, she vowed to get her herself a pair of those slippers.

Katkat saw it in Ayala Center Cebu early this year but wasn’t able to take note of the name of the store nor the brand of the slippers.  We already checked each stall in each corner of the mall, as well as the mall directory, and still we couldn’t find any.  Alas, Katkat noticed that there was one area of the mall where we hadn’t checked out.  Just as we descended the escalator, Hotflops was already waving to us.

Newest blog domain

Not to mention my very first blog site in the social networking site Friendster five years ago, I kept changing my blog domain from “hiddensanctuary” to “isayslife” to ”wanderlandia.”  ”Wanderlandia” is my third blog name in WordPress alone.

I got my latest domain name from the word “wander” which suits best my character.  I love to wander around to see new places — near or far — and stuff.  Now, let’s see what’s in store for us in “wanderlandia.”

Wanderlandia!  Here we come! :D

More About The Last Airbender Movie

I’m not sure if I could watch The Last Airbender on big screen.  My hands are tight at the moment.  For now, I would like to share some interesting facts I read about The Last Airbender movie.

Noah Ringer

At the age of 10, Noah Ringer, who plays Aang, had begun practicing Taekwando.  He won several trophies including the title of American Taekwando Association Texas State Champion.

The Last Airbender begins on July 21, 2010

I’m not an avid fan of anime television series but I’ve seen some of them like Akazukin Chacha, Final Fantasy, Yu-Gi-Oh, Sailor Moon and Naruto.  While my husband was still in Cebu, he would tell me stories about Avatar and this is when I became familiar with the quest of the last Airbender.

From a small dream

I remember back then, in 5th grade, when Hazel drew our dream houses on a piece of intermediate pad and labeled each drawing with Dream House No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3.  I can barely recall who got the other dream house sketches and what the houses looked like.  Up until now, I still keep that Dream House No. 1.

What to take?

This apartment in Gonzaga has been a witness throughout the 20 years of our lives. We moved here when my mother was heavy with our youngest brother. My youngest brother just graduated in college and in less than a week, we’ll be moving to a new home.

Packing up our things seems endless. I lost count of how many bags of trashes and old stuff I threw out, yet it looks like I still have more things to sort out – from used clothes to cassette tapes and from old CDs to bundles of letters and greetings cards. It took me several nights to consider the things I will take with me. If I were to decide, I would bring all my stuff with me. That’s how I treasure the things I own especially those things given to me.

My first jog @ night

I found it weird at first to jog at night.  Will there be other people jogging besides us?  Last Wednesday, Val and Kat were able to jog at past 7 p.m. and there were several joggers, too.  Last night, I decided to give it a try.  Perhaps, it might be more comfortable jogging in a cool night rather than in a warm summer morning.

Goodbye, Hiddensanctuary…

Whew!  It took my whole afternoon in selecting a new Wordpress theme and editing my widgets and admin settings, but a few minutes to decide to change my blog url.  As I was waiting for Val to finish his edits in Mommy’s thesis, I couldn’t seem to wait to re-start my pc then make the changes right then and there.  I knew it would take hours of reconstructing my new site, so I lengthened my patience.  We were also waiting for Kat to arrive to have our jog in Capitol Lagoon.

Compass craving

Everytime Val and I drop by a sports shop, I like to check out the compass they sell.  I don’t know why I always desire of owning one.  I love exploring Mother Nature, but I’m not adventurous enough to trek the mountain or wander into the woods alone.

Freebies from credit cards

Almost everyone hold back from using credit cards. It can be tempting at times to shop and swipe away with that handy plastic card found inside your purse without even thinking whether you’ll have the money to pay for it when the bill arrives. If you failed to pay the whole amount before its due date, interest will be added and on the next billing statement, you’ll be surprised at how much it has increased. What’s worse? It will continue to increase and you endlessly pay the amount you never used.

Meet Cheki and Fifi

Almost everyone I know love pets. At home, we never have one. Maybe that’s the main reason why I’m afraid to be near with dogs and cats. The main thought of being bitten scares me. I even stayed away from a hen; scared that she’ll peck me. :D But, don’t get me wrong. It doesn’t count me as an animal hater. In fact, I love watching some owners play with their pets. That’s just it, I’m contented of being a mere audience even from afar.
